New Leadership for Affordable and Reliable Public Power

Sara Kohen is running for Omaha Public Power District's Board of Directors for Subdivision 1. Sara believes Nebraskans deserve reliable, affordable electricity and a public power system that puts people first. Unlike the privately owned utilities in other places — whose priorities often conflict with the public interest — OPPD is owned by the public, its customers. Sara will defend OPPD's mission against efforts to undermine it.
Affordability is central to that mission. The cost of electricity has increased, making it essential to control costs while continuing to invest in maintenance and long-term planning so that we have dependable electricity when we need it. Rapidly growing demand for electricity presents a challenge that requires thoughtful consideration, collaboration, and a fresh approach.
